The Zoo and Hannover
When we came to Hannover we decided to go to the zoo, on the Adenauerallee. My children always like things like that and so I tend to go just for them. However, this zoo was different. It was so refreshing to find such a big zoo with such big enclosures. We were here all day and even then struggled to see everything that we wanted to. I'd recommend a boat trip around the islands, so that you can get closer to some of these friendly creatures.

Hauptbahnhof - the railway station
The Hauptbahnhof is the German word for the main train station and even if you are flying into the airport, you will still probably arrive into the city by train. This station is really lovely and was built in the 1870s, and has only recently been completely refurbished, right in time for the World Exposition Expo in 2000. The Hauptbahnhof is on the Ernst August Platz and is pretty big - it even has its own shopping centre. There are lots of cafes outside.

Nature in the Rainforest House
The Rainforest House is a giant dome which is over 15 metres high and was built for the 2000 Expo. It is in the Hill Garden, on the Herrenhauser Strasse, and is full of a jungle of tropical plants. There are actually lots of separate greenhouses and a nice collection of bright orchids. There were even butterflies in some of them, and little tiny birds as well.
